VIDEO IS NOT DEAD
Installation

Dimensions: 2 8" x 12" monitors with Internet and video cables of various widths and types
on spools arranged in a sculptural manner around the monitors

A site-specific installation. The monitors have two simultaneous loops (20 seconds each) with the words
VIDEO IS NOT DEAD animating and a face (mine) attempting to break through the monitor.
This is when the World Wide Web as we know it first began. These words are an affirmation that video as
an art form
would survive and continue in digital format and on the internet. At this time,
most connection speeds were 14.4 k or less. Streaming video at this data rate was only
possible if the movies were short and 120x160 pixels at very low resolution with no sound.

VIDEO IS NOT DEAD is available on DVD and as as stills
